News of the week! Wednesday 26 feb 2025 : The pirates challenge in Celyddon Utopia.

Today, the infamous crew of pirates from the Catronian Archipelago set sail for Port Celyddon Utopia, ready for a wild adventure of shooting and looting! But to their surprise, the navy had laid a treacherous course filled with mines, fortresses, and obstacles, turning the journey into a chaotic race. The pirate captains soon found themselves dodging relentless attacks from navy ships and navigating perilous waters. At one point, a mine exploded, creating utter pandemonium. Despite the chaos, the resilient pirate captains managed to climb back aboard and continue their daring escapade. Impressively, they not only avoided sinking but also managed to inflict minimal damage on the navy ships along the way. Amid the madness, tempers flared. Accusations of cheating and shortcuts filled the air, and some captains, abandoning their focus, began firing at each other instead of the navy! Meanwhile, the navy forces moved strategically between fortresses and cannon islands, determined to sink the pirates. However, it quickly became apparent that the navy captains had indulged in a few too many drinks, drastically impairing their aim. Sensing their advantage, the pirates raced ahead, weaving through mines and dodging bullet fire with skill and speed. After seven grueling laps, Captain Trouble Ahead emerged victorious! Captain Snoots took second place, though his constant yelling and tendency to shoot at mines slowed him down. Captain One secured third place, despite battling strong wind changes in the first lap and impulsively turning his cannons on fellow pirates during the final lap. It was undoubtedly a hilarious and action-packed event. In the end, all the captains returned home relatively unscathed, with plenty of stories to share from their chaotic adventure!

News of the week! Friday 25 oct

BATTLE LOGS Oct 25, 2024

Halloo there. Cap'n Snoots Dwagon filling in for Trouble Ahead, cos she is swamped. I've been asked to recount the recent ship battles, so I'll do my best.

I was late to the event and totally missed the first battle. So obviously that was totally irrelevant, since no Dwagons there.

The SECOND battle however, that was something. Every captain was in good form, and had some surprising turnouts. We had five Captains and it seemed the entire battle consisted of us all shooting at anything that moved. The Captains were Trouble Ahead, One and Only, Till Underspiel, Ballyrae Hanly and myself, Snoots Dwagon. We're not 100% sure who sank whom, except we know of two definite battles:

Surprisingly, Captain One was sunk by Trouble Ahead... certainly a rare happening since One is the master of the long shot. Congrats Trouble on that one. Cap'n One took it in good graces and commented on the skills of all the Captains that day.

The Rabid Pink Pirates (Captain: me) managed to sink two ships. I don't remember who the first was because cannonballs were flying fast and furious. I will say however that every Captain fought honorably and bravely. We faced off head to head and all did their best, no dirty tricks.

For me the most memorable battle was between the final two ships: The DEADLY SMUGGLER (Cap'n Trouble Ahead) was staring straight at the Rabid Pink Pirates (moi), and we both began our run. What neither of us realized is that both of us were down to 3 points and either or both of us could be sunk. We simply came at each other straight on, come what may. Canons fired and after the passing... the Deadly Smuggler kissed the bottom and the Rabid Pink Pirates somehow managed to sail by with all three points intact. That was a fine and honorable battle, one of the best I've seen. All observers remarked enjoying watching that final run.

Overall it was a fine day for sailing and the battles were enjoyable, with everyone in good spirits. We gathered at the docks afterward and had a nice chat before having to leave for Ratty Life.

News of the week! Friday 11 oct

Today was definitely payday! All captains took to the seas aboard the Niitti gunboat, and it turned out to be a fierce and challenging battle. The daring captains included One Andonly, Snoots Dwagon, Till Uhlenspiegel, Captain Bally, and Trouble Ahead. Hitting the enemy proved no easy feat, and the intense skirmish lasted quite some time until only two captains remained: Snoots and Trouble. In a dramatic twist, Trouble forced Snoots onto the rocks (a ruthless move, indeed) and sent him sinking to the bottom of the sea. Ultimately, the Celyddon commander claimed his well-earned gold coins—funding that will go toward establishing a new colony on an unexplored grid.

As always, it was tremendous fun!

The Celyddon crew is now hard at work building a colony on the newly discovered grid, Utopia. This fresh territory offers ideal sailing waters, perfect for staging epic battles or simply enjoying a leisurely voyage. Once everything is ready, we’ll share the grid’s URL so everyone can join us in exploring these exciting new seas. Adventure awaits!

News of the week! 23 aug

With all the captains back from their holidays, we kicked off the new season with an exciting race last Friday—and what a chaotic one it was! Some captains took the helm of the Duyfken, while others opted for the Statenjacht, leading to two winners: Round One was claimed by Captain OneAndOnly, and Round Two went to Captain Okwaho Euler. The variety of ships added an extra layer of excitement, allowing captains to choose between defensive or offensive strategies. :)

It was amusing to watch as some captains skillfully avoided the floating barrels scattered across the sea, while others gleefully dropped explosive barrels to sabotage nearby ships!

The race track with gates will remain in place, giving captains the chance to test their ships and strategize for next week’s race. Make sure to prepare well—we can’t wait to see what’s next!

News of the week! 1 July

Tall ships often struggle to deal with small, nimble gunboats, as their cannons are too high to aim effectively at such close-range targets. But one clever captain came up with a brilliant idea: why not drop barrels directly onto those pesky little ships? Inspired by this tactic, the Duyfken crew (see picture below) can now push barrels overboard, letting them fall onto attacking vessels!

These barrels aren't just heavy—they're explosive! Even if they drift for 30 seconds, they remain a serious threat. When a ship's hull touches one, it triggers an explosion, making them particularly dangerous for captains trying to chase from behind.

This version of SPD Duyfken, scripted by Christine Nyn, is in its final stages of testing and will soon be ready for release. Stay tuned!

News of the week! 29 may 2024 HG Safari group visited!!!!!!!!

We were nervous, to say the least! Imagine this: a group of around 20 people walking through a teleporter gate, hopping into drivable mini boats, and setting off for a scenic tour. How would the 4x4 world handle such a sudden influx? Could the system manage so many scripted objects simultaneously? We genuinely didn’t know if the boating experience would hold up under the pressure.
That’s exactly what happened on Wednesday, the 29th. It was nerve-wracking, but in the end, everything worked out perfectly! A total of 29 visitors joined us to explore the world. After some heavy initial loading, everyone raced around in their little boats, laughing and having a great time.

Highlights from recent battles: It seems Captain "One and Only" caused chaos by relentlessly chasing the sterns of other captains—resulting in all ships being sunk! A new strategy is clearly needed to counter these tactics. Last Friday, we hosted an exhilarating tall ship hunt, where the Navy successfully sank Batavia and claimed her cargo. Exciting times ahead!

The captains—Miss Jennifer Law, Snoots Dwagon, One Andonly Ballyrae Hanly, Till Uhlenspiegel, Melanie Auxifur, and Trouble Ahead—showcased their mastery of naval tactics in an unforgettable showdown. In the first round, Captain Till claimed victory with Melanie as their skilled gunner. Together, they outlasted the chaos as the remaining captains sank one another in fierce combat. The second round delivered an even more intense finish, as Snoots narrowly edged out One Andonly in a thrilling face-off. Both ships were on the brink of destruction, but Snoots landed a decisive broadside, sending One to the depths of the ocean.

Tactics!!!

After completing the intense stress tests over the past few weeks, we’ve found that everything is running smoothly for the most part—only the occasional bad weather disrupts things. Ships and simulations are performing well!

The Celyddon captains are sailing strong, led by the skilled and deadly gunner, Melanie, whose precision on the battlefield is unmatched.

Last Friday’s battle was a thrilling experience! Captains Snoots, Bally, Till, Melanie, One, and Trouble took to the seas with their mid-class ships, each starting with a clear strategy in mind. Were they hiding? Targeting specific rivals? Teaming up? One thing was certain—every captain was cautious, using islands as cover and launching carefully timed attacks. It was a tense match, with minutes passing before the first holes appeared in their sails. Slowly but surely, the hunt began, with captains executing impressive maneuvers and landing well-aimed long-distance shots.

In the end, the battle came down to two survivors: Captain One and Only, and the elusive Miss Trouble. True to her name, Trouble had spent much of the match biding her time, waiting for the other ships to sustain heavy damage before delivering her finishing blow. Captain One fought valiantly but ultimately fell to Miss Trouble’s calculated tactics, sinking as the final casualty of the night. It was an unforgettable battle full of excitement and strategy!

It performed excellently, sinking quickly as intended—proving we now have a fantastic tool for sailing lessons in a rezzer. Okwaho Euler successfully sank the White Flag training ship, while Snoots emerged victorious in the Free-For-All (FFA), staying as the last captain afloat. Below is a picture capturing the dramatic moment when Captain Snoots Dwagon sank Okwaho’s ship. Cheers to a successful test and exciting sailing adventures ahead!

News of the week! 15 march 2024

Friday's battle unfolded with intense action on the high seas. The Navy set out with two ships and one skilled gunner, while the pirates countered with three Statenjacht ships. This time, the captains boldly chose to navigate the challenging southern waters—a region riddled with islands, narrow passages, and the constant threat of running aground. The fight was fierce and unforgiving. Early on, all efforts seemed focused on sinking the deadly smuggler. The ship *Trouble* ran aground near the western island shores and was finally taken down by Till Uhlenspiegel, with the Countess serving as the gunner on the decisive shot. The battle raged on as the pirates Snoots and Okwaho overpowered the remaining Navy captains. In the end, both were incapacitated, leaving two shared victors that evening: Snoots Dwagon and Okwaho Euler. However, it raises the question—what does victory mean when your ships are left burning? Despite the ferocity of the encounter, all captains displayed remarkable skill and resilience. It was truly an epic and hard-fought battle on the seas!

Meanwhile, Captain Snoots Dwagon has opened a cat sanctuary at his residence. Evidently, he’s proving to be quite the skilled veterinarian. If your feline companions need medical attention, don’t hesitate to reach out to him!

In other news, Okwaho has crafted a new dinghy designed for rum smuggling. Plans are underway to organize a thrilling race featuring Bwind ships, complete with unexpected surprises! Additionally, the CA sims will be showcased at the 2025 OS Fair, alongside an exciting event on the Craft Grid.

News of the week!  23 feb 2024

Exciting Tall Ship Battle Last Friday! The event featured one fully crewed ship and two captained ships, all navigating the iconic Batavia Galleon. The dramatic finale came down to a fierce face-off between the Celyddon galleon and a ship captained by a mysterious figure known only as “The Smuggler.” In a nail-biting finish, with just a single HP difference (!), the navy vessel was sunk, leaving one burning ship adrift. Tragically, no one managed to seize the cargo—it was completely destroyed in the flames. The captains showcased exceptional sailing skills, and it was thrilling to watch all the ships, under full sail, engaged in such an intense battle.

Friday's Battle Results: Two thrilling rounds with mid-class ships! Round one ended in a stalemate as some captains ran aground, leaving the results tied with no clear winner. The highlight? Commander Bally made quite the spectacle, humorously sailing *without clothes*! (A shocking break from Navy standards – apparently, he couldn't locate his new uniform!) In round two, Snoots Dwagon emerged victorious in a nail-biting one-on-one duel against Trouble. Despite Trouble's impressive effort, Snoots claimed the win. It was an action-packed day filled with excitement, laughter, and excellent sailing! Can't wait for the next battle!

Friday's Battle: Sink the Galleon! The Batavia Galleon set sail but was relentlessly pursued by Ballyrae Hanley aboard his Lorcha and Judge Snoots Dwagon commanding his Statenjacht. Strangely enough, the cries of "Sink the Judge!" echoed throughout the encounter more often than not. Despite her attempts to escape and hide from the attacking ships, the Galleon was swiftly and spectacularly sunk. What followed was a gripping showdown between the two remaining captains. The battle reached an intense climax, with the Navy sinking just moments before victory could be claimed. Adding to the chaos, the smuggler Trouble and her ever-screeching parrot, Tony, were also aboard. In the end, against all odds, the Judge survived!

News of the week!

Summary of the Court Event – October 27, 2023, Port of Morgan's Court Hall:
The Case of Okwaho Euler Accused of Stealing Booze from the Navy’s Cellars

- A key piece of evidence presented in court is a photograph of Okwaho’s cellar, showing barrels of alcohol (rum or whiskey). This photograph was taken by Judge Snoots Dwagon, who followed up on a tip about stolen barrels from the Celyddon Navy’s cellars. Snoots personally inspected Okwaho’s cellar and captured the photograph as evidence.
- Strangely, Judge Snoots did not appear in court to testify. Instead, Governor Morgan stepped in to preside over the case.
What followed was a rather humorous and lively courtroom exchange. The individuals involved in the proceedings were as follows:

The Accused: Okwaho Euler
Defense Attorney for Okwaho: Cata Raven
Representative of the Navy: Ballyrae Hanly
Defense Attorney for the Navy: Till Uhlenspiegel
Witness: Trouble Ahead

The case took some unexpected and entertaining turns, leaving attendees highly engaged throughout the hearing.

Replacement of the allegedly drunk Judge Snoots Dwagon: Governor Morgan of Port of Morgan steps in to preside.

The first part of the discussion focuses on the evidence presented against Okwaho.
Remarks from the Navy suggest that Okwaho's appearance alone—fitting the stereotype of a pirate—is enough to label him guilty. A painting on the wall supposedly depicts the stolen goods in question. However, Okwaho's defense argues, "Appearance alone is not valid proof."
Witness Trouble Ahead shares her account, stating that Okwaho once showed her some booze stored in his cellar, claiming he had shipped it from Port Celyddon's island. During that occasion, they both drank and fell ill afterward. It appears Judge Snoots Dwagon was tipped off about this and took it upon himself to inspect Okwaho's cellar, capturing photographic evidence of the contraband.

Governor Morgan's first question: Was the Navy missing any booze? If so, was it legally purchased? Defender Till testified that the booze was brought to Port Celyddon for a special occasion and had been paid for. However, Commander Bally countered by mentioning that any confiscated goods seized at sea by the Navy are always deemed legal under maritime law.

Defender Cata, supported by Trouble, makes a bold claim: the Navy is confiscating goods at will, which some might label as outright thievery.

The courtroom descends into chaos as accusations fly in every direction. Are all parties involved guilty of theft? Governor Morgan steps in with a series of pointed arguments:

  • Photographs are not valid evidence.
  • The barrels in question lack any stamps or markings to prove they originally belonged to the Navy.
  • No witnesses have confirmed seeing Okwaho transporting the barrels at sea.
  • The officers responsible for the confiscation, Commander Ballyrae Hanly and Till Uhlenspiegel, have provided no proof that the booze was legally seized.

To make matters worse, Judge Snoots Dwagon, who submitted the photograph as evidence, is reportedly too drunk to attend the hearing and might have been bribed. Even Commander Ballyrae Hanly himself noted that the barrels bear no Navy markings, further casting doubt on the entire case.

This is undoubtedly a serious accusation brought forward by the navy!

[13:12] Captain Morgan: Accusing the court of bribery is a serious offense, Officer Bally.
[13:13] Ballyrae Hanly: Not the court, just the judges!
[13:13] Till Uhlenspiegel: *Glances at the Commander*
[13:13] Captain Morgan: If you continue with this nonsense, I will have no choice but to strip you of your title and confine you to the rum cellar with the mice!

Instead of addressing the gravity of the situation, Commander Ballyrae veers off topic, starting an irrelevant discussion about thieving mice—because, as he claims, there are always mice in cellars. Frustrated by the absurdity, all involved urge Governor Morgan to take control, deliver a final judgment, and put an end to the pointless rambling in court.

Here is Governor Morgan's conclusion:

"Considering the lack of concrete evidence that Okwaho actually stole the items from the Navy cellar, and given that the confiscated goods cannot be definitively identified, I hereby declare Okwaho a free man. Furthermore, I order the Navy to conduct a thorough investigation into how these items went missing under their watch—a situation that is both baffling and deeply embarrassing."

The right to appeal remains open, and Commander Ballyrae, along with his officers, will continue the investigation into this case.
Defender Cata Raven and Okwaho Euler leave the courtroom feeling relieved.

At this moment, Judge Snoots makes an unexpected appearance in court, asking if he can preside over Case Two (the matter of tax laws). However, the defendant, Till Uhlenspiegel, has already left the courtroom, and Commander Bally will no longer have representation for the protection of his case. As a result, no further proceedings can take place. Why was the judge late? And why has the Ceyddon Navy mentioned bribery? These questions demand answers!

Ultimately, Governor Morgan and "Trouble Ahead" propose a fitting punishment for Judge Snoots Dwagon: one full week in Bombards Prison. This would serve both as a means for him to sober up and as a consequence for his tardiness in court. Perhaps this is the only verdict that can be confidently reached this evening. :)

He swiftly targeted Trouble's smuggler ship, sinking it early in the round. Despite Snoots’ gunboat and One and Only's efforts, the Celyddons, sailing their Lorchas, turned the tide. They managed to inflict significant damage on their opponents and emerged victorious in the second round. The battle was full of action, strategy, and camaraderie – once again proving why these events are such great fun!
